A provisional inventory of achnanthoid, fragilarioid, canal-raphe diatom and the genus Diploneis in Lake Baikal is the aim of this second of two volumes of Iconographia Diatomologica devoted to the flora of that ancient great lake in Siberia. This volume include revision of diatoms from following genera: Cymatopleura, Nitzschia, Diploneis, Eucocconeis, Karayevia, Nupela, Planothidium, Platessa, Pseudostaurosira and Staurosirella. Two new genera are described as new for science, these are Popovskayella gen. nov. and Skabitschewskia gen. nov. Our guideline was to illustrate and to give names to entities that can be easy distinguished from more or less similar taxa living in better investigated regions of the world. An inventory likewise appropriate to find out where these Baikal taxa may occur else in Eurasia. In a quite small number of samples from the Skabitschewsky collection, others from the International Darwin Initiative Project 15 years ago and actual own gatherings we could select 160 species new to science additionally to other 222 species that are described in the first volume. It must be considered in this context that as yet only 12 genera have been studied in detail in a second step of our investigations.
